Did you bore out the crank shell or just plug it straight?
@@H0GS16 That’s not how it works . The top end is the cylinder that is the bore that’s the size diameter of the piston. The crank is the bottom, and there is no bore in the crank. I’m not doing anything to the crankshaft in this video. The new cylinder is already boarded out to 70 mm for the new 70 mm piston.
世界のホンダ🚜
I have the same bike . What is that controller remote thing by the left hand controls
How were you able to record a video in 240p?
Lol I’m not sure it was like eight years ago I think I was recording on my iPhone 4s or something like that lol
No snorkel !!?? Awesome but damn risky 😂
I’ve learned her limits lol. The hard way lol. Ive had er swamped up to the seat. The intake appears to be up closer to the handlebars so it’ll go quite a ways but the big thing you gotta watch for is the airbox drain because water will enter the airbox drain and that is a lower point lower than the intake up by the handlebars. I had to flush the engine oil and pull the spark plug after water got in the intake, and I had to change the oil in both diffs. I went through a water crossing that I’ve gone through many times before, but the water level was higher in the spring time, by the time I realize how much deeper it was, I was already committed to just send it. The day that happened it was probably two or three times deeper than this.
@@613Builds sounds like you know your machine man! Are you happy either the Honda I’m looking at a rubicon 520 currently
@@nicktorres5540 yeah it’s been a good machine, I also have a 520 Pioneer sxs UTV. Big difference between the rancher and the 520 models is the independent rear suspension And electronic shift.
@@613Builds that’s dope man. I appreciate your info safe riding man!
For anyone that cares the rear shock spring on the ranchers or at least mine is insanely weak. If you plan on riding someone or working and hauling anything and don't want to be squatting or bottoming out i highly recommend getting the highlifter rear spring if not a whole new shock. The spring will require spring compressor. I got the 2024 and could stand behind mine and could push mine as low as my arms would allow with no effort whatsoever. The highlifter spring made all the difference in the world, that's how it should have come from factory it was ridiculous. Oh yeah im about 5'11" and 180lbs so im far from hulking and that wasn't why it just flew down when pushing it.
@@johnnyreb1475 I think the preload is adjustable 😎🛠️ I haven’t towed anything yet aside from my little yard trailer
@@613Builds it is but even on the highest setting it was ridiculously weak and hauling a trailer shouldn't be an issue unless rear independent suspension I was referring to solid rear axle and any load on the rear rack. I've seen a stock rancher with rear drop basket with a small child on the back and the rear fenders almost rubbing the tires with stock shock and spring. For a single rider with no extra weight on the back it's fine, and made for a softer ride but anymore than that it just doesn't cut it. I just put a strong made rear rack on and with any weight I can only imagine how low that thing would be riding. I checked a new one out on the show room floor after I got mine and I was bouncing that thing standing flat footed like it was a child's 50 fourwheeler. I just wanted to see if they were all like that. It was a 2024 also so I can't really speak for any other years but I'm pretty sure there's not much difference if any.
Please let us know what carburetor you used . Was the clearance of the piston needed . And what was the top speed using the stock head . Thank you for your hard work and explanation. I have the same kit and the new SS exhaust arrived yesterday . My current mileage is 2500 miles and loving the XR150L .
@@philipcloutier2553 I used a pz27 carb for now off Amazon. I’m told the piston needs to be clearanced yes under the wrist pin I tried to match the thickness to stock piston. My top speed was around 95 kph on flat. I’m getting around 95-100 kph now but I still have mods and tuning to do
Thanks for your prompt reply . I hope that changes when it is broken-in , as I am consistently getting those speeds right now stock tucked down and no headwinds , with 4000 klms on the OD . I am just above sea-level . I have purchased the SSS big bore kit and have now received thier SS exhaust .
I’ve already bought a 18 twos front sprocket for overdrive or higher top speed but it doesn’t fit the output shaft so either I need to modify it to fit or get another sprocket because the gearing and red limiter really determines your top speed
18万はまあまあ走ってますね・・・240キロメートル表示?
Yes it was a good car
why didn’t you re jet the carb
@@keepiton2carson I’m not done with it yet. I did a carb swap in the big bore install video, This 27mm carb is close enough for now, but I might add a bigger cam or head with bigger valves. I will definitely want to tune it I’ve just been super busy with life working full time and my mom is in the hospital , and sometimes it takes me time to edit, produce and export videos.
should get and install the stage 2 model is Performance Camshaft CRF150L CRF150F from sxparts $65 us dollars plus shipping . works grate on my xr with the big bore kit

did you upgrade to bigger valves?
Not yet. I do want to upgrade either the head / valves or cam at some point

That looks like the exact same kit that I got for $70. Is this the SSS kit?
This kit was almost $200 Canadian , I can’t remember the brand. Looks like the same piston
ナイスバイク🏍
The dot on the cam gear needs to be on top. I’m still watching though. It has to go around twice. That’s how mine was factory anyways.
Oh I see you put it on right at the end lol.😅
Thanks for watching 🛠️😎👍
@613Builds your clips were taped to the bottom of the inside of the piston! I just checked my kit and they were hiding really well! I hope you haven't sabotaged your engine!
LOVE THE VIDEO BRO! EXTREMELY HELPFUL for me due to the fact im getting the same kit do you have a link to the carb?? and what jet??
I just watched a video of the SSS exhaust and apparently it’s expensive crap! Don’t buy lol.
@@DustySteel I’ve been eyeballing some of the stainless steel CRF exhaust. I’m told that CRF 150 and CRF 230 exhaust will fit. It does appear to be the same frame aand engine the CRF 150 F. But if your budget oriented, this can work.
@@613Builds the iSTUNT that I bought is for the crf150f and where it bolts to the frame in the mid section; I had to cut the bracket and bend it so it didn’t push that part of the exhaust into the shock. It was black chrome but it changed colors up to the muffler. Good sounding exhaust thought and it comes with a spark arrestor. I offered them a lower price and they agreed. Was only around $130 usd after taxes and shipping.
Header od is 32mm so definitely bigger than stock.

I paid $3850 last year (all tax, title and extra fees) in southern Ohio. Great bike but needs some mods with footpegs being the most important. Don't do the big bore kit, just get a bigger bike. This bike has adequate power for its intended purpose, just free up the intake and exhaust flow if you want to spice it up a bit.
@@123gmor awesome 😎 👍 I’ve already done the big bore kit, I’m just slow at editing and uploading the videos lol. It improved torque substantially. No regrets there. The intake and exhaust video is now up on my channel

I got mine last year . I have just turned 3,700 klms. On the stock bike . I all ready have my 222cc BBK . Yesterday I ordered from Scooter Swap Shop the new stainless steel exhaust $269. US And I am following Dusty Steel great advice . Along with MishMashMoto . The last video from SSS . Show cases the XR150L as a much improved and capable , Bike with very little extra cash outlay . Compared to CRF250 or CRF300 costing thousands more . I also got the cheap Amazon windshield . I intend to build everything when I get all upgraded parts together first . Just south of Ottawa and under 100 feet elevation . I can consistently hit 100 klms stock if I tuck down with no headwinds .62 mph I have added a Led DZG headlight plug and play $30. "Be seen don't die" Looks more modern and I believe much safer Dual USB/VOLT METER Battery tender cable . Factory Honda tank bag . a little small but the dealer priced match . Thanks Honda . KimiMoto rear collapsible tail bag . 1 full grocery bag fits between the 2 bags awesome groceries getter . A coffee cup holder attached to the left rear luggage rack lower bar , (in front of the turn signal ) Any Tims leakage A (Canadian coffee shop) spill goes on the ground not all over the bike "bonus" . A must add is a magnetic oil plug . Because of no oil filter . Also new set of foot pegs and a tusk foldable shifter in red . Good luck to all and tell us your best mods .
@@philipcloutier2553 that’s awesome! I’m about 1.5 hours SW of Ottawa. Whenever I use the bike for commute, I usually can’t live without my Timmy, so I’ve been putting the coffee in the side pocket of my backpack lol. I did add a 50 calibre ammo crate on the back rack and I thought it might be good for carrying coffee but it shakes it up too much lol. I drilled holes in my exhaust baffle for more flow but I’m probably gonna want to upgrade that as well at some point. So far my favourite mod has been the big bore kit. I did install an Amazon windshield as well. I just haven’t had time to edit and post the videos yet.
nice- I am doing my 89 formula i bought a 4.8- I want to use the stock silver-ado manifold - stock alternator -- will it fit under the hood without modification? Car is Mad max ... you mentioned shaving the intake- is there a video on that - or how do I do it - budget build want to use as much stock on the 4.8 1500 silverado-- also using a 460le and planning on using stock rear end that is in the 89 Formula now- can I do that?
@@bicyclecrunch you can modify the truck intake to fit. I had to use a smaller alternator with the stock truck power steering bracket. There might be a way for you to get the truck alternator to fit with different brackets or some modifications perhaps I’m not sure, but I found it was not too difficult to install the smaller alternator from the early 90’s. I also modified the underside of the hood in a different video
@@613Builds thank you for the reply- your an engineer ... ok smaller alt - do you actually cut the intake-- shave it off?
@@613Builds is the hood video on your channel
ah i see it -- thx... did you grind or cut out the hood or both?
thats all old school hot rod man nice..
Can you video your hitch setup
I bought a new one 6 mo. ago and I love it. Modifying this bike is a waste of time and money. If you want a fast dirt or street bike buy something else. I`ve been riding over 50 yrs. and if you want to putt around like the `70`s this is what you want. imo
@@barackmycat9448 well, the 222 cc big bore kit helped the torque tremendously. That was a major improvement noticeable in first gear, taking off all the way up to fifth gear. When it was stock original, it would hardly carry itself in fifth gear anywhere below 75 km/h, but now with the kit it can carry itself from 60 km/h even in fifth gear effortlessly with lower RPMs. I also added a windshield, and that was a major improvement as well.
What was the cost of that kit? Buy a bigger bike with more suspension.
@@robfninh it was around $250 Canadian for the big bore kit. Much cheaper than buying a bigger motorcycle of this year. I’ve put it around 2000 km on it so far I mostly use it on the street or for commute so bigger suspension is not totally necessary. My main priority has been budget since I bought my first house last fall.
@@613Builds I understand.

How did you get the new lights to fit in the headlight buckets?
They are the same size as the factory lamps. Make sure you get the 4x6 there are also 5x7 inch. If you got different lights with bulky backing then you might have to modify your headlight buckets
@@613Builds I think that’s the problem I have, they are 4x6 but the backs are not as tapered. Thanks again for the video, nice to see what they will eventually look like
@neilcuff7361 I think I had to loosen the front bezel retainers a bit as well, because the corners aren’t as round or shape is slightly different depending on which lights you get.
What is the display screen?
Did you do anything to the metal straps so maybe they would last longer?
I wanted to use copper or stainless, but I ended up using the cheaper galvanized stuff just to make sure it would do the job. There is copper and stainless strapping available, and that’s what I would recommend for corrosion resistance

@@CraigMcCaslin I’m not sure but I think it’s universal 😎
will this fit a Kodiak 700
Cool ! What kinda MPG or Litres per 100 km do you get ?
It’s supposed to get like 100 mpg but I don’t think I’m getting that much when at close to highway speed almost wide open. My commute is better than 50 kms each way . I feel like it’s closer to 50-75 MPGs. It’s cost me about 14 or 15 Canadian dollars to fill the tank with high octane around $1.80 per liter for the good stuff. Tank lasts me about 2 days to work and back. It takes me 45-55 mins each way to get to work. It will reach 105 or 110 kph downhill , about 95-100 on flat, and drops to about 90-95 kph uphill. I’ve got a cool upgrade I’ve already installed a 70mm big bore kit for 222 cc displacement. I’ll have a video later
@@613Builds cool , sounds like a going to town rig.. I’m in Muskoka area gas was 1.569 the other day for regular.. I haven’t bought premium yet this year.. chainsaw gas. Lol
Seems to me you're best off spending more and getting real Mikuni so you can actually use Mikuni jets to change out, which I am sure anyone will need to do to tune it properly. Good luck finding jets to fit it. You are best off to get a rebuild the original with new gaskets and orings, then properly adjust the float leve to stop the overflow issue.
Right. it’s often a pain to dial-in the Chinese carbs

I would definitely find something for myself! 😁
